This camp is back for another year of fun and with another author/illustrator twist! Wimberley ISD teacher and local mom, Jarae Porter, will be leading our younger budding scientists through 5 days of hands-on exploration and experimentation. This year Jarae will focus on the science of rainbows and color. The author/illustrator collaboration will be inspired by the work of Lois Ehlert who won the Caldecott award for Color Zoo. Jennifer will lead the young illustrators and introduce other projects that teach color theory in fun and exciting ways as well. We always do a clay* project in each of our Agua Fresca Camps, so your little one can expect to do some 3D building, too. We’ll have our hands in paint, ink, clay and more, so art friendly clothes are encouraged!
Students in this camp should plan to wear water-friendly shoes that strap well to the feet (NO CROCS or FLIP FLOPS), hats/sun protection and art-friendly clothes.
*Please note that clay projects must dry for several days before they can be fired in the kiln, so clay projects will need to be picked up at a later date. If your child would like to glaze (add color!) to his or her ceramic piece(s), you can always sign up for one of the glazing days later in the summer.
Please bring/wear the following each day:
* a reusable water bottle
* two snacks
* a sack lunch
* wear art-friendly clothes (we also have art t-shirts available)
* wear water-friendly shoes that secure well to the feet (NO FLIP FLOPS or CROCS)
