Our annual science and art camp is back for another year of fun and we’ve added an author/illustrator twist! Wimberley ISD teacher, Jarae Porter, will be leading our younger budding scientists through 5 days of hands-on exploration and experimentation in science as well as a young author project. In the past the kids in this camp have built solar ovens, designed and raced boats in the creek, used lemons to light up bulbs, exploded volcanoes and more! Jarae has exciting new projects planned, so if your kiddo was in the camp last summer we guarantee it will be a new experience for 2018. Jennifer Ober, Agua Fresca Studios owner and art teacher, will teach the art portion of the camp leading the kids through several fun and engaging art projects throughout the course of the week, including an illustration project in collaboration with Jarae’s author project. We’ll explore a variety of media, including clay**. With lots of repeat students from year to year, Jennifer makes every effort to plan projects that are new and engaging for every student in every camp.
*Students in this camp need to wear water-friendly shoes that strap well to the feet (NO FLIP FLOPS), hats/sun protection and art-friendly clothes.
**Please note that clay projects must dry for several days before they can be fired in the kiln, so clay projects will need to be picked up at a later date. If your child would like to glaze (add color!) to his or her ceramic piece(s), you can always sign up for one of the glazing days later in the summer.
Please bring/wear the following each day:
* a reusable water bottle
* two snacks
* a sack lunch
* wear art-friendly clothes (we also have art t-shirts available)
* wear water-friendly shoes that secure well to the feet (NO FLIP FLOPS)
