Woohoo! We’re offering a camp for preschoolers again this year. TX certified teacher, local mom and owner of Little Wings Farm, Lauren Slubar, will be leading our preschoolers through 5 days of hands-on gardening and farming lessons. We’ll be using Jennifer’s garden for some lessons in planting, composting, mulching and harvesting. Lauren will also bring in some animals from her farm for a visit. In past years we met a rabbit, hatched baby chicks, harvested and dried herbs, learned how to milk cows, made our own butter and more! We’ll break for lunch just after 11:00 and then Jennifer will lead the kiddos in some creative art projects. The goal is to gain exposure to different 2D and 3D art media, including clay*. Many of our art projects will be inspired by our farm lessons. If you were part of the fun last summer, don’t worry, we’ll have some new and exciting things to share this year!
*Please also note that clay projects must dry for several days before they can be fired in the kiln, so clay projects will need to be picked up at a later date. If your child would like to glaze (add color!) to his or her ceramic piece(s), you can always sign up for one of the glazing days later in the summer.
Please bring/wear the following each day:
* a reusable water bottle
* a sack lunch
* wear art-friendly clothes (we also have art t-shirts available)
* closed toe sneakers and/or farm boots are required for this camp (no flip flops)
To Register: Please complete the student profile, then add the class to your cart and choose the ‘pay with a credit card’ option. If you prefer to pay with cash or check, just email Jennifer at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
