This is a brand new camp for Agua Fresca! We’re excited to have experienced music teacher and professional musician, Sarah McSweeney as well as experienced elementary art educator, Jamie Pettit, on board this year. Sarah has been a beloved music teacher at Wimberley Montessori School for many years and Jamie has 20 years of experience teaching art with AISD. We’re also excited to announce that all proceeds from this camp will be donated to projectART, our local nonprofit dedicated to supporting youth art education. It’s a win every way you look at it!
The art portion of camp will be led by Jennifer Ober (Agua Fresca Studios owner) and Jamie Pettit, who are both board members with projectART. We will start each day with a variety of art lessons, including clay and some props for the Friday music performance. During the music and theater portion of camp the kids will explore topics such as: creative song writing, movement to the beat of music, developing listening and theory skills, exploration of vocal registers and sound effects, opera and classical music history, singing songs, rhythm and poly rhythms and learning about various orchestral instruments and orchestral families. We’ll have a performance at the end of the week to show off all the kids have learned and created!
Please bring/wear the following each day:
* a refillable water bottle
* a snack, if needed
* wear art-friendly clothes (I also have art t-shirts available)
* wear water-friendly shoes that secure well to the feet and have good soles for climbing on rocks and wading in the creek (NO crocs or flip flops)
To register, please complete the student profile, then add the class to your cart and pay with a credit card. If you prefer to pay with cash or check, just email Jennifer at firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements.
